"Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God"(Mk 4:11 KJV).
The Logic:
Judas was the infallible "disciple whom Jesus loved" in the Book of John; as authenticated by legitimate theological research. No other disciple could have ever given as much glory to Jesus for His unsearchable wisdom of love, grace and forgiveness, other than if Judas were the anonymous disciple whom Jesus chose to be "His betrayer" and at the same time be the "disciple whom He loved".
Comprehensive research from the Greek translations, guided by the Spirit of wisdom and revelation unfolds the hidden truth in the mystery of the "disciple whom Jesus loved". John, Peter, or any of the other disciples could have never been the mysterious disciple in the Book of John; none of the eleven disciples (Commentaries and life applications are in the book "Whom Jesus "Really" Loved") were "known to the high priest" except for Judas.
In truth and logic, there is no doubt that any of the eleven male disciples (only the female followers of Jesus were allowed, Jn 19:25) would have been arrested on sight, had any of them showed up anywhere in the vicinity of the crucifixion; let alone stand at the foot of the cross of Jesus, side by side with the ruthless Roman soldiers and the chief priests with their temple guards. James, Joses, Juda and Simon, the earthly brothers of Jesus (Mk 6:3) could not even be with their mother Mary at the crucifixion of their own brother, Jesus; and yet, we are expected to believe the old adulterated religious teaching that John Zebedee was the fearless, dauntless disciple, who stood at the foot of the cross of Jesus? Completely irrational; only a person without thorough knowledge and understanding of this particular topic would believe such a teaching that deprives Jesus of all the glory He deserves, when He displayed His perfect love and uncompromising forgiveness to a undeserving man named Judas; as He also did for all of us who believe.
Common sense alone, invalidates the concept to believe that John Zebedee just waltzed through the blood thirsty crowd, straight to the foot of the cross of Jesus without being seized, mobbed or arrested. Any Bible reader who understands the critical situation surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus, would find it completely irrational to even consider John Zebedee as the disciple who stood at the foot of the cross of Jesus. The Scriptures says, all the disciples (with the exception of Thomas Jn. 20:24) including John Zebedee himself and his older brother James, along with Peter and all the rest of the followers of Jesus (most probably including the earthly brothers of Jesus) were fearfully hiding, locked up in a room for fear of the Jews (Jn 20:19).
"...being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, peace be unto you", Jn 20:19.
Only Judas who had the privilege and authority (Jn 18:3) could literally stand by the cross, side by side with the Roman soldiers, the chief priests and the temple guards without being arrested. John Zebedee who fled when Jesus was arrested (Mk 14:50) would have not dared expose himself to such a deathly predicament (Buy the book "Whom Jesus Really Loved" by Gary Pangan to get the complete study, with personal commentaries and life applications. I know that it will deepen your relationship with Jesus, understanding and knowing how Jesus truly define and demonstrates His unconditional love towards us..."His Beloved").
Lazarus, MaryMagdalene, or any of the other followers of Jesus (outside the twelve apostles) are unquestionably ineligible, even impossible to be considered as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" or "the disciple who leaned on the breast of Jesus at (the Passover) supper"(Jn 21:20). Simply because, they were not even present at the Passover supper. The Scriptures prove that only the twelve apostles were present at the Passover supper with Jesus:
" And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover. Now when the even was come, He sat down with the twelve. And as they did eat, He said, verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me"(Matt.26:19-21 KJV). " And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. And He said unto them, with desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer" (Luke 22:14-15 KJV).
"Whom Jesus "Really" Loved" By Dr. Gary Pangan Introduction:
The book “Whom Jesus "Really" Loved”, is one of the most informative and timely declaration of truth, depth, and our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This book reveals the true answers to the unknown mysteries of the Bible that had been an enigma and left unexplored for ages.
The complexity and controversy behind the mystery of the anonymous disciple in the Book of John seemed too inconsequential for most readers and educators to really spend time to study and meditate on, in search for the truth. Notwithstanding, the natural mind cannot receive the deep things of God, because they are Spiritually discerned.
This mysterious subject was just completely ignored, giving the impression that John Zebedee was "the disciple whom Jesus loved"; eventually, this ideology became a cliche as, “John the beloved” (A myth with no Biblical foundation whatsoever). And since majority assumed that John was the sole writer of the book (though he was not, as John himself declared in Jn 21:24); the pursuit for the true meaning of the mystery became cold and stagnant; yet, not obsolete; proving the word of God is life and a light that will pierce through darkness.
The parable of the mysterious disciple is the one of the most noteworthy message in the New Testament. The "Disciple Whom Jesus Loved" is so significant that it was mentioned five times in the second half of the Book of John (Jn.13:23; 19:26; 20:2; 21:7; 21:20), not including other idioms and passages that were also used in the Book of John with the same implications.
The message behind the mystery of "the disciple whom Jesus loved" is greater than what we can fully comprehend. It reveals a character of Jesus and His attributes that only few believers will ever know and fully understand (Eph 1:17).
The very heart of the message of the disciple "whom Jesus loved" is not only about the disclosure of the disciple in question, but the revelation and understanding of how Jesus exemplifies His true unconditional love, defined from His own perspective and not from ours.
Withstanding the silence of this subject, God's will still prevails, giving life and illumination to deft ears and unreceptive minds, opening the gateway of perception to break an old unenlightened interpretation (eisegesis) that the eyes of our hearts may see and experience the unparalleled meaning of a mystery in the Kingdom of God; unveiling the fullness of God's immeasurable love through His Son Jesus Christ for all sinners.
The sources and writers of the Book of John deliberately gave subtle indications to reveal (through in-depth study and revelations) the hidden identity of the unnamed disciple. If the circumstances were only much different, then the writers would have openly exposed the disciples' real name (The book, "Whom Jesus "Really" Loved" expounds on this subject in great details). Unfortunately, even trained teachers in the word of God have missed the vital signs that the writers of the Book of John were trying to disclose. Therefore, majority of the readers, students, and teachers of the Bible yielded to the misguided hermeneutics of the old religious myth, "John the beloved" (Similarly, millions were also deceived with the idea of indulgences), an expression that has no biblical truth or theological foundation.
John Zebedee with the other disciples openly declared that none of them were the disciple who witnessed and wrote the events; before, during and even after the crucifixion of Jesus; including all the suffering Jesus went through within the Palace walls (Jn 21:24). John Zebedee never claimed to have been the eye witness to any of these events, nor did he ever claim to have known the high priest, chief priests, elders or any of the officers in the temple; mainly, the reason why he never claimed to be "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (The exhaustive version complete with commentaries, personal applications, and our very own relationship and purpose with Jesus are in my book, “Whom Jesus "Really" Loved”).
So, why is the research and exegesis of the true "beloved Disciple" in the Book of John so essential? The answer is simple and yet profound. The "Disciple Whom Jesus Loved" is one of the greatest revelation of Jesus' love in the New Testament. It is the thirst that every believer should have. It is also the will of God for every believer to rightly divide the word of truth and proclaim the purity of God's promises that truly gives life; setting the captives free and declaring the righteous indignation of God's love in Christ Jesus for all sinners...HIS TRUE BELOVEDS.
Settle for nothing less than the ultimate truth; discover the true reason why Jesus chose Judas to be "His betrayer", or from the Greek text "the one to give Him up", and at the same time be called, "The Disciple Whom Jesus Loved".
